Dry Pole Bean, Amish Nuttle
Dry Pole Bean, Amish Nuttle
Also called Amish Gnuttle, Cornhill or Mayflower, this is a small bean with an angular shape and rosy pink speckling. Reputed to be a good bean to grow up corn stalks (hence one of its names), though we haven’t tried that yet. A versatile bean, it has a thick skin so it holds up well in the pot.
This is a pole bean, which means that it climbs like a vine. Ideally you'll provide a trellis or pole for it to climb; think about where it can be in your garden without shading out other crops! Or order some milling corn and plant one bean at the base of each corn plant. You'll want to give the corn 2-3 weeks' head start.
